Not in a position to host Asia Cup T20, Sri Lanka Cricket tells Asian Cricket Council | Cricket News – Times of India


KARACHI: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Wednesday knowledgeable the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that the board is not going to be in a position to host the upcoming version of the Asia Cup T20 as a result of of the financial and political disaster in the nation.
The growth comes after the SLC lately postponed the third version of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) due to the continuing disaster.
“Sri Lankan cricket has conveyed that due to the existing political and economic situation in their country specially where foreign exchange is concerned it is not an ideal situation for them to host such a mega-event of six teams in the island,” an ACC supply stated.
The official acknowledged that the SLC officers conveyed that they want to host the nation in the UAE or another nation.
The official additionally added that the ACC is probably going to make an announcement in the following few days, given the Asia Cup is slated to be held in August and September this 12 months earlier than the T20 World Cup in Australia.
“UAE is not the final replacement venue, it could be some other country, even India as the ACC, Sri Lanka cricket will first have to talk with Emirates Cricket Board officials to get final approval for the event,” the official stated.
