The Department of Commerce has notified a brand new rule 43A for WFH in Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006.

The ministry mentioned the notification was issued on demand from the business to make a provision for a national uniform WFH coverage throughout all Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The new rule gives do business from home for a sure class of staff of a unit in SEZ.

WFH could also be prolonged to a most of fifty per cent of complete staff, together with contractual staff of the unit, it added.

“Work From Home is now allowed for a maximum period of one year. However, the same may further be extended for one year at a time by the DC on the request of units,” the ministry mentioned.

In respect of SEZ items whose staff are already working from house, the notification has supplied a transition interval of 90 days to hunt approval.

“SEZ Units will provide equipment and secured connectivity for WFH to perform authorised operations of the units and the permission to take out the equipment is co-terminus with the permission granted to an employee,” the ministry mentioned. 

It additionally mentioned that there’s flexibility granted to the Development Commissioner (DC) of SEZs to approve the next variety of staff (greater than 50 per cent) for any bonafide motive to be recorded in writing.
