The wholesale price-based inflation accelerated to fifteen.08 per cent in April from a 12 months in the past interval, authorities knowledge confirmed on Tuesday. The WPI inflation stood at 14.55 per cent in March.

Meanwhile, the retail inflation rose to a close to 8-year excessive of seven.79 per cent in April, remaining above the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) inflation goal for the fourth straight month.

Earlier this month, RBI had hiked its key rate of interest by 0.40 per cent and money reserve ratio by 0.50 per cent in an off-cycle transfer.
